June 12–July 19
The USMNT will play every match of the 2026 World Cup on American soil [1]. All three group-stage games, the Round of 32, and every knockout match through a potential July 19 final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, no international travel, no neutral venues, no away support [1][4].
The bracket geography is already determined. Win Group D and the path runs West Coast through the quarterfinals: Round of 32 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Round of 16 at Lumen Field in Seattle, quarterfinal at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood [1][5]. Finish second and the route shifts south and east: Round of 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Round of 16 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta [1][5].
The schedule is not just dates. It is a pre-mapped travel itinerary based on group-stage performance.
Group D Results
The USMNT defeated Paraguay 4-1 in the June 12 opener at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California [1]. They faced Australia on June 19 at Lumen Field in Seattle [1]. The third group match was against Türkiye on June 23 [1].
On July 1, the USMNT defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the Round of 32 [1]. The venue for that match places them in the first-place bracket, teams that won their groups played Round of 32 matches July 1–3, then advanced to Round of 16 matches July 4–7 [1][2].
The USMNT faces Belgium on July 6 at 8 p.m. ET at Lumen Field in Seattle [1][3]. That location confirms what the bracket already showed: they won Group D. Second-place finishers do not play Round of 16 matches in Seattle.
48 Teams, 104 Matches
The 2026 World Cup runs June 11 through July 19 across three host nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico [1][2]. The format expanded to 48 teams divided into 12 groups of four [1]. The tournament added a Round of 32, played July 1–3, before the traditional Round of 16 [1].
Quarterfinals are scheduled for July 9–10, semifinals for July 14, and the final for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey [1][2].
The USMNT automatically qualified as co-host [1]. They did not play a single qualifying match. At the December 5 draw at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., they ranked 14th in FIFA rankings but were placed in Pot 1 [1][2].
The last time the United States hosted the World Cup was 32 years ago, in 1994 [1]. Four years ago, the USMNT failed to qualify for the 2018 tournament in Russia [1]. In 2022, they reached the Round of 16 in Qatar and lost [1].
Two Wins
The USMNT has two World Cup knockout-stage victories in its history [1]. Both happened in 2026 [1]. Both happened at home.
The win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 1 was the first [1]. If they defeat Belgium on July 6, it will be the third, and it will send them to their first World Cup quarterfinal since 2002 [1].
